Sweet & Salty Trail Mix
There’s something grounding about making your own fuel. Not ripping open a neon packet in a parking lot, but standing in your kitchen while the nuts toast and the whole house smells warm and steady.
This mix was born from early miles and long days. The kind where you need something real in your pocket. Crunchy, salty, lightly golden & a little sweet.
Simple ingredients. No drama. Nourishment that carries you farther than you expected.
Recipe:
Ingredients
2 cups mixed nuts
¼ cup sesame seeds
¼ cup pumpkin seeds
¼ cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1 teaspoon avocado or olive oil
1/4 cup Brown Monk Sugar for a light sweet glaze
Cayenne pepper (optional- that is the way I love it)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Toss nuts, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, and coconut with oil until lightly coated. Top with sea salt.
Spread on a baking sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes, then stir well. Return to the oven and continue baking in 5–10 minute intervals, stirring each time, until the mix reaches your desired level of toastiness. You’ll know it’s ready when the nuts are golden, fragrant, and lightly crisp. The kitchen will tell you before the timer does
In my oven, this takes about 30 minutes total.
Pull out of oven and sprinkle with Monk Sugar and bake for 4 more minutes. This will give the trail mix a sweet-salty glaze.
Optional- sprinkle with some sea salt & cayenne pepper.
Let cool before serving.
Serves 8.
Long runs. Greek yogurt. Road trips. Drop bags. This one goes wherever you do.
Fuel that feels intentional.
