Stop waiting to be “ready”

Life is valuable and honestly… I’ve spent too much of mine waiting to feel “ready.”
Waiting for the right time. The right mood. The right version of me.

And there’s a lie we tell ourselves that sounds responsible…
but it’s really just fear wearing a cute outfit.

It sounds like:

“I’ll do it once I lose a little weight.”
“I’ll join when I have the right clothes.”
“I’ll sign up when I’m faster.”
“I’ll go when I feel confident.”
“I’ll start when I’m not so behind.”

Adventuring with friends at Shawnee National Forest. There was a time in my life that I would have stopped myself from going with this group- thinking I was not “fit enough”.

And the sneaky part?
It sounds like a plan.
It sounds like being “realistic.”

But what it actually does is keep you parked on the sidelines of your own life.

Because here’s the truth: there will never be a perfect time.
There will always be something you could improve first.
Another reason to wait. Another excuse that feels valid.

And if you let your brain keep moving the finish line, you’ll spend your whole life “almost ready.”

The Thing You’re Waiting For?

It might not be weight loss.
It might not be more endurance.
It might not even be confidence.

It might be permission.

Permission to start messy.
Permission to be new.
Permission to be a beginner.
Permission to show up exactly as you are.

So I’m giving it to you right now:

You’re allowed to begin today.

Adventure Doesn’t Require Perfection

The trail running community is very welcoming. All ages and fitness levels. Many came to walk on this amazing OMR Friendsgiving event hosted by Dani & Matt Hussung, and Lily and Efrain.

Do you want to run a trail race?

Do you want to go on an adventure?

Go.

Do you want to join a local running or walking club?

Show up.

Even if you’re slow.
Even if you’re nervous.
Even if you’re not sure what you’re doing.
Even if you’re convinced everyone else has it together.

Because most people don’t “have it together.”
They just stopped waiting to feel ready.

They got tired of watching life from the outside.

They started anyway.

You’ll Learn Along the Way

The truth is… no one starts feeling fully prepared.

You learn by doing.

You learn how to pace.
You learn what shoes you like.
You learn how to fuel.
You learn what makes your body feel strong.
You learn how to talk to yourself when it gets hard.
You learn what kind of people you want to be around.

And most importantly?

You learn that you’re capable of more than your brain tried to talk you out of.

Your Mind Isn’t Always Your Coach

Your “now” deserves love.
Your “today” deserves living.

Sometimes your mind is your biggest cheerleader.

And sometimes… your mind is a dramatic little committee meeting of doubt, fear, and worst-case scenarios.

It will tell you:

  • “You’ll be the slowest one.”

  • “People will judge you.”

  • “You’ll embarrass yourself.”

  • “You don’t belong.”

  • “Wait until you’re better.”

But here’s what I want you to remember:

Your mind is trying to protect you from discomfort.
Not from danger.

And growth almost always feels uncomfortable at first.

Not because you’re failing.
Because you’re evolving.

Love Your Now

You are not a “before” photo.

You are not a project waiting to be finished.

You are not a someday version of yourself.

You are a whole person right now.
Worthy right now.
Strong enough right now.
Capable right now.

Your “now” deserves love.
Your “today” deserves living.

Not after you change.
Not after you fix everything.
Not after you become perfect.

Because you’re never going to be perfect.

And that’s not a flaw.

That’s freedom.

A Little Challenge for Today

Think about something you’ve been wanting to do…
but your mind has been in the way.

Now ask yourself:

What would my life look like if I stopped waiting to be ready?

Then take one tiny step.

Not a perfect step.
Not a big step.

Just one brave step.

Show up.
Go outside.
Message the friend.
Join the group.
Put your shoes on.
Take the walk.

Life rewards motion.
Not perfection.

Final Reminder

If something inspires you…

Jump in.

There is magic in starting before you feel ready.
There is confidence in doing the thing scared.
There is power in choosing progress over perfection.

Live for today.
Love your now.
Do the thing.

You’ll learn along the way.

Glam & Grit Trailhead

I decided to say yes to myself when I created Glam. Glitter. Grow. retreats and the online community Glam & Grit Trailhead.

I feel really passionate about connecting women and creating a space where we can support one another. Because the truth is, we all struggle with self-confidence sometimes… and when we do, it can hold us back from life experiences we really want.

I broke these programs down into the things I truly believe are important. We’re told we need to look a certain way, but then we’re also shamed for caring about how we look. We’re juggling family, jobs, menopause, and changing bodies. And we crave connection with other women… but where do we even find the time?

That’s why in our retreats and inside Glam & Grit Trailhead, we focus on things like weight loss, fitness, makeup, self-care, positive self-talk, connection, and personal growth. Real life stuff, and real support.

I also partner with other amazing women in the community, because we’re simply stronger when we work together.
